2012 Recap

When I look back on 2012, I realize A LOT happened in our little family! Most things fun and exciting and new, others not so much, but it was a great year overall.

I'll start with January:
We went to the zoo with my very good friend, Kristal, and her little boy Kaden, who is Van's age. Her friendship is one of the things I am most grateful for as I look back on the year.
Van had his surgery :(  Poor little guy was in a lot of pain and it broke my heart, but he healed just fine.
My brother Taylor had a quiet marriage ceremony to his fiancé, Nicole.

Moving on to a very busy February:
Susan and I went to Las Vegas for the Design Market. Lindsay came to help out with Van while we were busy shopping for the store. Ryan was also in Vegas, but for a Hunting Show, so we only saw each other a couple times :)
A few days before Valentines Day Ryan left for Mexico, with all his sisters to visit their parents. He still managed to send me flowers on Valentines while he was gone.
My brother Taylor and his brand new wife, Nicole came to visit us.
We went to California for the wedding celebration of my good friend, Robin and her husband, Jack.
I found out I was pregnant! It took 8 months of trying, so I was very happy.

All work for the month of March:
We were on FFNX 1100 News Talk Radio, where I willingly let Susan do all the talking :)
We staged a job in Arizona, and had 2 large installs in Southern California

and for the month of April:
We celebrated Easter with the Hicken side, and announced we were pregnant.
No more binkies for Van!!
We found a turtle in our pool, put up signs, and found the owner!
Van got his first haircut.
Ryan and I celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary at Donovans.

The busy month of May:
We got a new sectional sofa for the family room, and granite countertops in the kitchen.
I received my first Mother's Day card from Van.
We had a weekend getaway at the cabin. We went fishing and I caught a fish!
My brother Brian graduated from high school.
We swam and BBQ-ed in celebration of Memorial Day.
I turned 29 on the 29th :) and Van also started ISR (infant swimming resource) that day.
Two days later, my sweet grandma Heagle passed away.

This was followed by the very busy month of June:
We found out that we were having a BOY!
On June 4th, my good friend, Kristal had her baby boy, Ryker. We celebrated Susan's 50th birthday, surprise-style!
We left for Utah for my grandma's funeral, where I was able to see my mom :)  We spent a few days up there with my family, and had a lot of fun, despite the reason we were all together.
My niece, Chealsey came home with us for the summer to visit and help with work and Van.
Father's Day.
Van turned 2 on the 20th.
Lastly, we went to Las Vegas for a work install.

Moving onto July:
We went up to the Cabin for 4th of July while Ryan's sister, Kamara and her family were there. Van had a lot of fun with his cousins!
Ryan's sister, Caskie had her baby.
Van graduated from ISR lessons, capable of floating in the water while fully clothed.
We went to California for 2 work installs.
While there, we took Van to Disneyland for his first time, and he loved it!
We got to spend a day at the beach, which was also a lot of fun...

In the month of August:
We went to an Arizona Cardinals practice up in Flagstaff, because one of the players was a new client of ours, Dan Williams.
Chealsey went home, which Van was sad about :(
We went to a Cardinals football game, where Dan introduced us to his good friend, Calais Campbell, also on the team. We ended up taking him on as another client.
Lindsay and Darren came to visit us. I love spending time with my sister, and can't wait til she and Darren move here!!

 In September:
Ryan left to New Mexico for his elk hunt, and after 10 days of sickness, lots of hiking, tracking, and waiting, he finally got his elk, which was well worth the wait... it was huge!
Susan got really sick for a couple of weeks, and ended up getting her gall bladder taken out.
I found out my sister, Lindsay, is pregnant!! Woo Hoo!

We had a lot of fun in October:
We finished putting grass in our backyard.
We went to the pumpkin patch with the Hoopers, which our little boys loved!
Susan and I had an install in Arizona.
Our ward put on a neighborhood Halloween party.
We went to another Cardinals game (which we lost really badly, but still had a great time). We hung around afterwards to say hi to Dan and Calais, and then we saw Jordin Sparks and Larry Fitzgerald on the way to the car.
And then of course, Halloween... Van and Kaden had so much fun going from door to door saying trick-or-treat. They were adorable!

The most memorable and special month of the year was November:
Tye Robert Hicken was born on the 6th, election day. He made that day extremely happy for us, all 8 lbs 1 oz of him!
Lindsay came down to help me the first week, and she was able to see his birth, which was very special.
We had to finish the install for Calais when Tye was just 8 days old!
We celebrated Ryan's 34th birthday on the 21st by taking Van and Tye to the movies to see "Wreck it Ralph"
We celebrated Thanksgiving with the Hickens, always a ton of kids!!
At the end of the month I went to a small rodeo with the Hoopers, where Van was able to ride a horse for the first time!

Lastly, the BUSY month of December:
I made a little Christmas Calendar that had something to do each day before Christmas, so we did many things, some of which included: playing in the snow, visiting Santa, reading Christmas books, Zoolights, Temple lights, watching Christmas movies, and many others.
We did our tree raffle at the store, where Dan and Calais came to sign autographs.
My brothers, Bradley, Ben and Brian got to meet Tye for the first time. It was especially fun seeing Brad, because it had been a year and a half!
My sister is having a BOY! I'm so thrilled Tye will be close in age to another boy cousin!
We had a Reeves side Christmas Eve dinner, where the kids acted out the Nativity and Santa came to visit and bring presents from my parents in Mexico.
Christmas was really enjoyable for us. We decided to just celebrate with our little family of four. It was magical to see the excitement in Van's face with each present. Ryan got me a chariot to tow the kids from my bike, and we took it out for a little ride later that day, which was really fun.
We saw "Les Miserables", which I LOVED!
We ended the year throwing a little New Years Eve party with the Hoopers. 2 other couples joined in on the fun; Blake and Jen Clarkson, and Brandt and Andrea Morrow. The kids had a great time making s'mores, holding sparklers, and watching the fireworks.

What a great year 2012 was, and I can't wait to see what 2013 holds for us. My life seems to get fuller each year, and I feel like I have so much to be thankful for. I have the best family and friends, and feel truly blessed. Happy New Year!
