Hicken Reunion (part 1)

WARNING: many pictures to follow.
Just a few short days after Ryan's parents got home, we had our Hicken reunion at their cabin in Pinedale. Technically the reunion didn't start until the next day, so we went straight to the lake when we got there to test out the boat, and it was great!
The next morning was the Fourth of July so we started the day off by going to the little parade (understatement) down the road. Even though there were only about 5 "floats", the kids enjoyed it because of the candy that was involved.
After the parade, we took the kids to the park, where they played games for prizes and got to swing on a HUGE tire swing.
Van took this picture of me!
Hanging out around the cabin... mucho lovin' on Tye
Some of the teenage cousins made this poster of the Reunion schedule, too funny!
What really happened that evening was a little Hicken history, given by Marissa where she told some great stories and the importance of being part of the Hicken family.
We looked at fun pictures throughout the years, and got to eat these yummy popcorn balls!
HAPPY FOURTH!
The next day we went to the lake again!
There was a point at which Avie and Van were touching the water with their hands... Van leaned over a little too much and flipped right over the edge! Luckily he was wearing his life jacket, and Ryan was quick to catch him.  He was a little scared at first but calmed right down. He decided the "relaxation station" was the safer option... and more fun too!
After getting back to the cabin, we cleaned up, and took our family pictures. Then Mamaw and Papa gave a mission report of the last 3 years, while showing us pictures.
What a great first couple of days! And there's much more to follow...

  1. I was glad to see the pictures of Mamaw and Papa Hicken... I wasn't sure if they were in attendance! Great pictures and looks like it was a lot of fun!
