Somehow I got talked into doing a triathlon, which took place a few weeks ago. Her name: Natalie Francis. Magical, enchanting words spew from her mouth, and she makes you believe you can do anything in the world. But I had never done anything close to this before in my life! I'm not a runner, and I trained, well, VERY LITTLE! By the time race day rolled around, I had only done ONE 8 mile bike ride, about a couple weeks before (the tri was 12 miles), and I only ran 2 miles ONCE about a week before (the tri was 3.1 miles). The only part I wasn't nervous for was the swimming portion, since I swam in high school, but even then, I only swam a few times to train- in MY pool (not great for lap swimming). Miraculously I ended up placing 78th out of 130 women when my goal was just to finish! Even more miraculous, I placed 17th out of 130 women in the swimming portion. My saving grace had to be the crossfit training I've been doing since June, because other than that, I don't workout, AT ALL.
All and all, I had a great time! I actually really enjoyed it. I'm glad Natalie talked me into doing it, and I'm definitely planning to do more in the future. Next time I will actually train harder because the competitor in me is not satisfied with 78th place, especially since my good friend Kristal SMOKED me, and she did the triathlon PREGNANT- 9th overall!! Good job girl, but hopefully next time I can keep up with you.
The best part: My cheering section (Ryan, Van and Tye), and going out for breakfast afterwards!

I didn't realize Kristal did that well!! That's so awesome-- she's amazing. And so are you!!! You did really well, I'm impressed! I hope to do a tri someday.
