A miracle happened: Ryan and I took a vacation… without the kids! This was a first in such a long time, about 2 1/2 years! We went to New York with our good friends, Kristal and Ryan Hooper.
Since this was our 3rd time to New York together, we had already seen a lot of the sites before, so this vacation was very relaxed and carefree which was nice. We ate at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant the first night we got in. Despite the fact that Ryan almost burnt our table down (quite a funny story), it was a lovely evening and a delicious meal to say the least.
We saw Newsies on Broadway for the first time, and although it deviated from the movie slightly, it was really good, and the dancing was amazing!
Shack Shack was our staple for lunch, period.
We walked on the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time.
We strolled through Central Park (although a horse-drawn carriage ride would have been much dreamier, hint hint!).
We shopped, walked, ate at new places, and walked some more (however, I found we took a taxi more frequently on this trip).
Out of all of these adventures and more, my absolute favorite moment was when we walked to the corner of the Federal Reserve Building and found Van's name dried into the sidewalk from our trip 2 years previous. We thought FOR SURE they would have smoothed the concrete where Ryan used his giant finger to write his son's name, but we were thrilled to see they hadn't. Definitely a highlight of the trip!
The day we were coming home, I was really missing my boys, and so of course our flight was delayed! But we finally made it home, and I got to kiss their little faces off. A huge thank you to Ryan's sister, Kamara, who watched the boys for us. We knew they were in great hands and we were able to fully enjoy ourselves on this much needed vacay!

You two are adorable!
